The UK’s primary provider of tax-free bicycles for work, Cyclescheme, launched BikeMiles, the first ever national rewards cyclists network in the UK in November 2012. In its first month from the scheme launching, more than 25,000 miles were logged and some 300,000 potential participants were informed about the scheme .
With a similarity to air miles, the BikeMiles scheme enables cycling enthusiasts to turn their cyclists miles into redeemable rewards. With the use of MyCyclescheme online hub and a mobile app, the participants for Cyclescheme can log the miles they cycled and convert them into vouchers and discounts from several of the UKs largest brands.
Participating companies offer both on and off the bike rewards and include CycleSurgery, nuun hydration, Proviz, Howies, Costa, Odeon, Body Shop, Hallmark, Marks & Spencer, Mothercare and Hotel Chocolat.
To bring BikeMiles® to life, Cyclescheme has teamed up with PleaseCycle®; the company that helps organisations understand, encourage and reward employee cycling – a proven way of saving carbon, increasing productivity and reducing absenteeism.
Ry Morgan, PleaseCycle Co-Founder, said of the partnership: “We’re extremely excited about launching a national platform with Cyclescheme. All of their users will be able to log daily rides with our GPS enabled app – allowing them to track personal stats, compete against colleagues and earn rewards from major retailers for their efforts.”
Cyclescheme sales and marketing manager, Stephen Holt says; “We are pleased to bring BikeMiles to Cyclescheme participants. Cycling to work is a great way to get fit and save money – now it’s a great way to obtain free rewards. We have an attractive range of offers lined up so people can start logging BikeMiles today!”
