The largest generator of green energy in the UK is SSE and they have recently started a public exhibition that features information about renewable energy. It also gives visitors information about the first dedicated electric vehicle in the country. It tells users about the charging of the car and also about the various parking facilities that have been created for it.
The exhibition is called the Power of Now and it is located at the flagship building of the company in Glasgow. The project is clearly a celebration of renewable energy and inside the exhibition there are many attractions which show off the value and power of this sort of electricity.
It is expected that the attraction will draw thousands of visitors every year and it is expected to be particularly popular among schoolchildren as part of academic trips. The exhibition centre was opened last month and since that time it has been very popular with guests.
The director of science at the Glasgow Science Centre is Dr Robin Hoyle who has commented, “Glasgow is an area with a long history of engineering and this just goes to show how varied the sort of industry that takes place in Glasgow is.
“This exhibition is something that is going to inform the public both about the value of renewable energy, but also about the importance of engineering and science. If we want to make our country more environmentally friendly, it is important that people understand how these technologies work. This exhibition is really one of the best ways to do this.”
In the exhibition centre there are going to be displays from some of the partner organisations including Siemens, Aquamarine Power, Glasgow Science Centre, IBM, Peugeot and Mitsubishi Power Systems. The centre was officially opened by Quentin Willson.
