TP Scoot is a new electric scooter that is about to launch in the UK and promises a convenient and cheap way for commuters to get around the city. The scooter costs a touch over £1000 and is classified in a similar way as a 50cc petrol scooter. It has been available in Germany for 10 years and is just now being brought to the UK. The two-wheeler costs about a penny a mile to run, will travel 20 miles before it needs charging and can reach a top speed of 20 miles per hour.
Those who have brought it to the UK say that it will appeal to businesses as well as commuters as it is green, versatile and small. The Electric Scooter Shop has distribution rights to the scooter and has said of it, “It’s small enough to just be kept in the corner of an office or it can be folded down and stored in a car boot. We like to think of it as an adult’s version of those small kids scooters you see everywhere.”
Rudi Schogger from the Elecric Scooter Shop has said the company is in talks with many companies and even the emergency services, “We have one potential client who is an antiques dealer. They want to buy several of the scooters so their agents can travel around the city to conduct valuations on items.”
The TP Scoot is electric and therefore tax free and is available in 500w or 1000w models. The cost of the base model is £1250. Currently the Electric Scooter Shop only sells the scooter, but they are investigating the cost effectiveness of a rental system.
